Takes works because people play fair. Here's what that means.
Remember: Everything on Takes is personal opinion, not professional advice. Don't make important decisions based on crowd votes. Always consult a qualified professional for medical, legal, financial, or safety matters.
What Takes Is
Takes is a social voting and polling platform where anyone can post a two-sided question — a "take" — and let the crowd decide. Every take has exactly two options. The point is to settle debates, gauge opinions, and see where the internet lands on questions big and small.
Takes is for entertainment and genuine curiosity. It is not a news source, a fact-checker, a medical resource, a legal resource, or a professional advice service of any kind. Crowd results tell you what a self-selected group of internet users prefers — nothing more.
Some content on Takes is generated by automated systems operated by Takes Social. AI-generated or bot-generated takes are created to populate the platform and explore interesting questions. They do not represent the views of Takes Social.
The spirit
Takes is for genuine two-sided questions — things you actually want to settle, debates you want the crowd to weigh in on, or just curiosity about what the internet thinks. Keep it honest, keep it interesting.
Do
Post real two-sided questions
Every take must present exactly two genuine options. The best takes are real dilemmas where either answer is defensible — not obvious setups where one option is clearly a joke or meant to embarrass. Both sides should be stated neutrally and fairly.
Debate in good faith
Disagree with the take, not the person. Challenge ideas, not identities.
Be creative
Food vs food, life choices, hot takes — all fair game. The weirder the question, the more fun the results.
Only upload content you own
Only attach photos or videos you personally took, or that you have explicit written permission to use. Do not upload images found on Google, social media, or anywhere else online without the copyright holder's permission.
Get consent before posting images of others
If your photo or video shows an identifiable person, make sure you have their consent to post it publicly. This includes photos of friends, strangers, and public figures.
Report what breaks the rules
Use the report button if you see something that shouldn't be here. It helps keep the community clean.
Don't
Post one-sided or loaded questions
Don't frame takes so that one side is obviously "right" or is designed to demean someone. Both options must be presented in good faith. Takes that are thinly veiled personal attacks framed as questions will be removed.
Present opinions as facts
A take is a question for the crowd, not a factual claim. Don't frame takes in ways that spread misinformation or present contested claims as settled facts.
Self-promote or spam
Don't use Takes to promote your own products, services, social channels, or websites. Repeated identical posts, referral links, affiliate links, and commercial content are prohibited.
Dox or expose anyone's personal information
Do not post any of the following about a private individual without their explicit consent: full legal name (first and last), home or work address, phone number, email address, social media accounts, school, employer, daily routine, vehicle, financial information, government ID, or any combination of details that could be used to identify or locate them. This applies even if the information is technically findable online. Framing doxxing as a question ("Should I contact [full name]'s employer?") is still doxxing and will be removed.
Give or request professional advice
Don't ask for — or offer — medical, legal, financial, psychological, or safety advice. Takes is not the right place for it. Crowd votes are not professional recommendations.
Upload images you don't own
Do not upload photos of celebrities, athletes, or public figures taken from the internet. Do not upload stock photos, screenshots from other apps, or any image where you don't hold the copyright. Doing so may infringe copyright and violate the person's right of publicity.
Post photos of people without consent
Don't upload images of real people — including yourself or others — in a way designed to embarrass, harass, or harm. Don't post photos of strangers without their knowledge.
Harass or target people
No personal attacks, targeted abuse, or posts designed to humiliate a specific person.
Post spam or misinformation
No fake news, manipulated content, repeated identical posts, or anything designed to deceive.
Post explicit content
No sexual content, graphic violence, or anything you wouldn't show in public. Our AI moderation catches most of it automatically.
Impersonate others
Don't use a username that makes you look like a public figure, brand, or Takes staff. We block known names and reserve the right to reclaim the rest.
Manipulate votes
No bots, no vote farms, no coordinated campaigns to skew the scale. The crowd's opinion only means something if it's real.
Never — Zero Tolerance
❌ Pornography & explicit sexual content
No sexually explicit images, videos, or graphic sexual descriptions of any kind.
❌ Child sexual abuse material (CSAM)
Any content that sexually exploits minors will be reported to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and law enforcement.
❌ Gore & extreme violence
No graphic depictions of injury, death, or violence intended to shock or disturb.
❌ Illegal content
No content that violates applicable law — including content involving minors, illegal weapons, or illegal activity.
❌ Doxxing & identity exposure
Posting anyone's full legal name, home address, phone number, workplace, school, daily routine, financial details, or any combination of identifying information is an immediate permanent ban. No exceptions. We do not warn first.
❌ Harassment & threats
No targeted abuse, threats of violence, doxxing, or coordinated attacks against any individual.
❌ Hate speech
No content that dehumanises people based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, or national origin.
❌ Copyright infringement
No uploading of copyrighted images, videos, or text without the rights holder's permission. Repeat infringers will be banned.
Opinions vs. Advice
Takes is an opinion platform. The crowd can tell you what it prefers — it cannot tell you what is safe, correct, or right for your specific situation. A take about whether to quit your job is entertainment. A take about which medication to take is dangerous. Use your judgment about what kinds of questions belong here.
Takes Social is not responsible for any decisions you make based on content or vote results on this platform.
About Uploaded Images
When you upload an image or video, you confirm that you own it or have the legal right to use it publicly. You also confirm that any identifiable person in the image has consented to being featured in a public post.
We run automatic content moderation on all uploaded media. Content that is flagged as inappropriate will be blocked before it is posted. Reported content is reviewed manually. We will remove content that violates these guidelines and may disable accounts that repeatedly upload prohibited content.
If you believe your copyrighted image was uploaded without your permission, contact us at support@takessocial.com with the details and we will remove it promptly.
Reporting
If you see something that breaks these guidelines, use the report button on the take or comment. Reports are anonymous to the person being reported. Reporting does not guarantee removal — we review reports and apply our judgement.
Do not abuse the reporting system to target users you disagree with. Malicious or repeated false reporting may result in action against your own account.
Enforcement and Consequences
We use a graduated enforcement system. The severity and speed of each step depends on the nature of the violation.
Step 1 — Content removal
Violating content is removed, with or without notice. For minor first-time violations, no further action may be taken.
Step 2 — Warning
For repeated or more serious violations, you will receive a formal warning. A warning is a record that you have violated our guidelines and that further violations may result in suspension.
Step 3 — Temporary suspension
After one or more warnings, or for serious single violations, your account may be temporarily suspended. You will not be able to post, vote, or comment during the suspension period.
Step 4 — Permanent ban
Accounts that continue to violate guidelines after suspension, or accounts responsible for severe violations (hate speech, CSAM, doxxing, coordinated harassment), will be permanently disabled. Permanently banned users may not create new accounts.
We reserve the right to skip steps and move directly to permanent ban for severe violations. Enforcement decisions are final and are made at our sole discretion. If you believe your account was actioned in error, contact us at support@takessocial.com.
