Community Guidelines
Takes works because people play fair. Here's what that means.
The spirit
Takes is for genuine two-sided questions — things you actually want to settle, debates you want the crowd to weigh in on, or just curiosity about what the internet thinks. Keep it honest, keep it interesting.
Do
Post real questions
Ask things that actually have two sides. The best takes are genuine dilemmas, not obvious setups.
Debate in good faith
Disagree with the take, not the person. Challenge ideas, not identities.
Be creative
Food vs food, life choices, hot takes — all fair game. The weirder the question, the more fun the results.
Report what breaks the rules
Use the report button if you see something that shouldn't be here. It helps keep the community clean.
Don't
Harass or target people
No personal attacks, targeted abuse, or posts designed to humiliate a specific person.
Post spam or misinformation
No fake news, manipulated content, repeated identical posts, or anything designed to deceive.
Post explicit content
No sexual content, graphic violence, or anything you wouldn't show in public. Our AI moderation catches most of it.
Impersonate others
Don't use a username that makes you look like a public figure, brand, or Takes staff. We block known names and reserve the right to reclaim the rest.
Manipulate votes
No bots, no vote farms, no coordinated campaigns to skew the scale. The crowd's opinion only means something if it's real.
Enforcement
Reported content is reviewed and may be removed. Accounts that repeatedly break these guidelines may be disabled. Takes is a prototype — enforcement is currently manual and best-effort.
Not allowed — ever
❌ Pornography & explicit sexual content
No sexually explicit images, videos, or graphic sexual descriptions of any kind.
❌ Gore & extreme violence
No graphic depictions of injury, death, or violence intended to shock or disturb.
❌ Illegal content
No content that violates applicable law — including content involving minors, illegal weapons, or illegal activity.
❌ Harassment
No targeted abuse, threats, doxxing, or coordinated attacks against any individual.
❌ Hate speech
No content that dehumanises people based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, sexuality, disability, or national origin.
❌ Spam
No repetitive posts, unsolicited promotions, bots, or anything that clogs the feed with low-quality content.
